What to expect from the upcoming J Balvin x Air Jordan 2 drop
The Colombian singer has been making more than just fire music.
“Air Balvin” is on its way. The renowned Latin singer has recently announced his anticipated collection drop in collaboration with Air Jordan. Balvin has become a huge success in the Latin music and pop-culture worlds; showing his supporters that anyone from humble beginnings can turn themselves into something great. Often referred to as the “Prince of Reggaeton,” Balvin has released numerous top hits such as “Mi Gente” featuring Beyonce, and “Ginza,” and has collaborated on other hits such as Cardi B’s “I Like It.” And now, Balvin is collaborating with one of the most recognizable streetwear brands ever: Air Jordan.
On September 15, an entire J Balvin x Air Jordan 2 collection will drop to the world. Of course, the buzz around the collection has surrounded the sneakers that go with it. The pair of Air Jordan 2’s are incredibly unique with one specialized feature that fits J Balvin's message through the collection: they light up. “I thought about what humans go through day to day, finding the light to have a better quality of life,” says Balvin in his Air Jordan collaboration announcement on Instagram. “The Jordan 2 have lights because they represent that if sometimes there are dark paths, the light accompanies us to pass the test.” The shoes themselves are mainly white, with pops of blue and even tinier pops of coral around the shoe’s fabric. To fit into Balvin’s idea of light, or maybe airiness, the shoes have a fun cloud pattern of sorts around the heel that match the sky-blue outer soles. The light itself is emitted from the classic Air Jordan logo found on the front of the sneaker’s tongue; glowing bright green.
Alongside the shoes, Balvin also curated a matching sweatpant and sweatshirt set similar in pattern to the sneakers. Both articles of clothing are a sort of periwinkle blue and white tie-dye print, with the sweatpant strings being rainbow to add a vibrant pop. An “información” label can be found on the bottom left of the sweatshirt. To top things off, a matching periwinkle hat will also most likely be a part of the collection.
