The Ultimate house of Fashion: Donatella Versace
When Kode thinks Fashion, we think Donatella Versace.
Sure, our current reality is filled with Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Fendi, Prada and more, but what makes Versace queen of the house is because she’s the most distinctive aesthetic of houses that has inspired almost every young designer in some way. Versace hasn’t only paved the way for young designers (specifically through Donatella’s Versus line) but has created some of the most iconic moments in fashion history and pop culture. It was the first house to fully utilize the power of celebrity and music culture while still being even more iconic and significant than the celebrities themselves. Continuously being the longest running head designer to a major house, it is safe to say that Versace is the most famous and recognizable designer in the world while Donatella remains a celebrity in her own right.
Donatella Versace worked side by side with her brother, Gianni, to help create one of the biggest fashion houses in the world, and recently worked side by side with Kim Jones during Milan Fashion week for Fendi x Versace’s Fendance. Versace is the only fashion designer whose collaborative efforts continue to stay relevant and reinvigorate the brand.
