Lights! Glamour! + Gucci! - Gucci Shuts Down LA’s Hollywood Boulevard for its very own Love Parade.
Last night may have arguably been THE fashion event of the season for the City of Angels.
Alessandro Michele, Gucci’s creative director, launched his latest spring-summer 2022 collection titled Love Parade on Hollywood Boulevard.
Models emerged from the TCL Chinese Theatre and walked on the famous pink stars along the sidewalks of Hollywood Boulevard. It was truly a monumental and oh-so Hollywood occasion especially since this year marks Gucci’s centennial.
We see Michele’s love for old cinematic wardrobes come to life as the Love Parade collection featured cowboy hats, tourist-y vacation button-ups, feathered gowns, lavish faux fur coats, diamond tiaras, crop tops, funky patterned wide-leg pants and voluminous silky dresses- all wardrobed onto many well known stars like .
This centennial show displayed Michele’s incredibly successful signature of retro glam. He was not afraid to mix up styles, fabrics, textures and colors. As for the footwear, models wore a mix of chunky silver platform shoes, patent leather flats and white pointy boots.
Michele also featured a diverse array of small to plus-sized models.
Among the glitz and glamour of the collection, stars were seen left to right on both the runway and as guests. Muse and brand ambassador, Jared Leto, who is also casted as Paolo Gucci in MGM’s upcoming film House of Gucci, walked along side actor Jodie Turner-Smith, Macaulay Culkin, Jeremy Pope and Kodi Smit McPhee. But what is hollywood without it’s other entertainers like musicians St. Vincent, Phoebe Bridgers, Steve Lacy and Hayden Pedigo.
With activism becoming a comfortable dialogue amongst society through the help of social media, Michele included Black Lives Matter activist Janaya Khan, filmmaker-writer Miranda July and Grace Johnson to walk in the Gucci fashion show last night to further support his line.
Guest Miley Cyrus, who is this year’s face of Gucci’s Flora Fantasy fragrance campaign, was seated right at the front with Billie Eilish, Diane Keaton, Anjelica Huston, Olivia Wilde, Sienna Miller, Serena Williams, Natasha Lyonne, Beck, Selma Blair, Gabrielle Union and Dwayne Wade, and their daughter Zaya.
The Italian designer shared that it was a dream come true to unveil his work on the boulevard of stars, recalling glitzy Hollywood tales from his mother, who worked in the film industry as an assistant at a production company.
