Can you name 5 French Montana songs without a feature? Apparently, neither can Twitter.
Twitter user @sticktalkz joked that the next Squid Game challenge was to name 5 solo French Montana songs. French, most famously known as a feature artist and being Khloe Kardashian’s ex, took to Twitter to defend himself. Namely, tweeting a list of his songs and telling haters to “eat a d*ck.” But according to Twitter, it seems French is the only one who can name them to begin with.
The meme went viral and French now has something to prove.
Despite the jokes, the 36-year-old rapper is a staple in the industry. Two of his studio albums charted in the top 10. If one thing can be said about French, he’s consistent. And to be fair, his features are bangers, and he’s attached himself to some big names. JLo, Puff Daddy, Asap Ferg, and Jason Derulo to name a few.
But like other known feature artists (Ty Dolla Sign ring a bell?), trying to break out of that bubble has proven to be a tad difficult. There’s no shame in being known for something you’re good at. In his own words, artists who put out albums without features are “weirdos.” But you can’t help but sympathize with French.
But sometimes, defending yourself makes the jokes worse. Let your fans do it for you. It’s just the way of the internet – as it has been, and as it always will be. Just take a look at the memes and jokes being flung at him. We can name at least one French Montana song, at least. Who can forget “Unforgettable?”
