Marilyn Monroe's Iconic Sparkly Beige Dress Damaged

KIM KARDASHIAN IS UNDER FIRE FOR DAMAGING ONE OF MARILYN MONROE'S ICONIC DRESSES.

In May, Kim Kardashian wore Marilyn Monroe's sparkly beige dress to the 2022 Met Gala in New York. It was borrowed from the display of Ripley's Believe It Or Not! Museum in Orlando, Florida.

The dress is by late Academy Award-winning costume designer Jean Louis. In 1962, Monroe wore the dress for President John F. Kennedy's birthday party at Madison Square Garden. Because the dress is memorabilia, it must essentially be in good condition.

However, the Instagram account @marilynmonroecollection recently brought to the attention of social media that the dress is officially damaged. Some crystals are missing, and the fabric around the zipper is frayed, stretched, and ripped.

Even though Kardashian has received a lot of backlash for wearing the dress, Ripley's Believe It Or Not! Museum has also received backlash for loaning her the dress in the first place.

In an Instagram post by @marilynmonroecollection with video proof of Kardashian struggling to fit in the dress, they say, "there actually was damage done to the dress due to being worn."

It is unclear what is happening to the dress now that it has suffered permanent damage. However, precious and iconic memorabilia must be treated as such moving forward.
